EDUCATION:
Mike graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1975; Miami University (Oxford) in 1979--B.A. in History/Business, and UC College of Law in 1982—Juris Doctorate (J.D.).
PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT:
Mike been practicing law for since 1982. He was a partner in a well-respected Downtown Cincinnati law firm, before establishing his own law firm, Michael J. Bergmann, LL, in January of 1999. Mike has maintained that firm from its inception through the present.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
During Mike's legal career, he has provided legal service for hundreds of clients in the areas of estate planning and probate; business formations; business, construction, and real estate transactions; and litigation, arbitration and mediation and informal settlement negotiation of claims and disputes.
Mike is admitted to practice before all Ohio courts, several US District Courts, and the US Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mike previously served as a New York Stock Exchange arbitrator (hearing claims and disputes involving customer investment and intra-brokerage matters) and as the legal counsel for the Cincinnati Walls and Ceilings Contractors Association.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS:
Mike is a career-long member of the Cincinnati and Ohio State Bar Associations and a member of the Greater Cincinnati Estate Planning Council since 1997.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION:
In Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, Mike is rated “av—Preeminent”, the highest level of recognition which can be given, for his legal ability and ethics. That rating is based on an extensive survey of attorneys practicing in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Mike has also been recognized as a “Five-Star Wealth Adviser” for estate planning in Cincinnati Magazine for 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. That designation is given annually to less than 7% of the financial, investment, and estate planning advisers within the Greater Cincinnati area.
PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND INTERESTS:
Mike is a lifetime resident of Cincinnati. He and his wife Judy have been happily married for 43 years and have six children and 9 grandchildren. Mike and Judy are active in their church and community.
